Pulled a merc and war nickel from the same fire pit along with a few wheats. Went closer to the farm house I have been hitting and got a 1920 and 1909 (no S or VDB), but it was some wishful cleaning going on. They were caked with clay. Not a bad way to spend lunch....

Nice site you have there! I've only found a few war nickles. When did you eat?

Got lucky. I tell you what guys, I have switched tactics in metal detecting mostly because I am extremely patient. I had thought I "covered" this property really well the last 2 years with my standard 13" coil on CTX. I put my 17" coil on the CTX and am now digging the deep iffy signals. Basically anything that squeaks even a little bit. By the way, it really helps that the owner doesn't care about the yard at all (I am still treat it as my own though). Will be going back there for lunch quite a few more times and keep you all posted. I know they have turned over the yard and it is extremely irritating with the nails etc., but I am going painfully slow, but getting results.
OxShoe - All I need is PB&J and that is crushed on the way.
WD - I will take a couple of wheaties at lunch. Heck, I would take pull tabs if it means I am swinging.
