Full Metal Digger

Hey diggers,
Today I took off from work just to go detecting! The spot I wanted to detect is along an old medieval road that used to connect my village to a neighboring village. There's a nice patch of woods with a small knoll at the point where the road makes a sharp turn. It looked very promising on Google Earth. I invited 2 detecting friends to go with me. Tom and Justin arrived at my house about 8:30 and we headed off in the light rain.
We arrived at the site and was very pleased with how it looked in person. Right off the bat we each found a musket ball and then a bunch of bottle caps! I think a lot of Germans like to drink beer when they are hunting because there were beer caps all over the place! After about 30 minutes I got a very sweet 95 signal. It's one of those signals you KNOW is going to be good. I was very surprised to pop out a hammered silver coin at 4 inches deep! It's a 1707 2 Albus. To be honest I had never even heard of an albus before today! (not counting Harry Potter of course). It's the same size as a quarter and is my 15th hammered silver (and 30th silver coin overall) since arriving in March! Here's some pics and thanks for looking and commenting! Happy hunting, Dave.
