I've been busy lately packing and doing all the rest of the usual things preparing for the big move tomorrow. I had a friend with a trailer haul my lawn tractor and other equipment early this morning after work. After this I had to wait at the new place for who knew how long waiting on a new tv to be delivered. So to kill time of course I thought I would detect the yard, what little there is of it.
The house is the original farm house in the area and supposedly dates to the late 1800s. There is also an old produce stand in the back which gave me hope of a lot of lost change. As it turns out it appears to have been graded or filled at one time, plus is just loaded with nails and trash. The front has been heavily worked with a newer road, sewer, water, etc. so little to be found but clad mostly. The front did produce a lone wheat though, plus an old looking 2 piece steel back button.
The back had lots of conduit fittings, electrical parts, etc. giving many high tones. But I managed a 12-47 signal that popped up a shankless US military button. One really iffy high tone that was the only one showing under 3 inches I just had to dig. Luckily I did because at about 5 to 6 inches I pulled out my only silver of the morning, a 1937 Merc with basically no wear. Unfortunately it didnt weather the soil too well and is quite oxidized. I'll try to clean it later and see if it improves.
