We in the northeast have been getting pounded by Mother nature as of late :shocked03: If tomorrow storm is half of what the weathermen say it will be our 4th Nor'easter snow storm
in 3 weeks !:whiteflag:
Donnie and I were determined to get out and we found a spot in Connecticut that wasn't buried in snow , actually we were lucky it had bare patches at all !

Donnie had dropped his coil a few hundred yards near a cellar hole (back field area between two walls ) while I looked to pinpoint where the site actually was. He immediately got a dandy button but moved closer to me where the cellar was . I quickly picked up a crushed thimble , followed by a button and a while later a very thin looking coin or button (turned out to be a coin) 6341863419. The patchy snow made us stick to the bare areas and it didn't take that long before we covered these . We headed back to where Donnie hit the first button because it was odd that he would so quickly find one way away from the foundation. This turned out to be a hot spot of activity and being far enough away that it wasn't detected before by others. Unfortunately the snow in this areas had deeper spots but I pulled a few nice targets out including a very crappy sounding iron target but it was also an odd sounding one . The pinpointer found the curved iron nail first and then I resweep the hole to hear another odd high tone and just underneath the nail and slightly to the side was a copper on edge:wow: .63420 The King George II is pretty worn but made copper 2 for the day and it was still early!:bananadance:This area also produced a couple of buttons and near a stone wall I got a very loud and way too shallow target !:shocked04: Its only reading a half inch deep and I could tell it was a pretty big target and the way the numbers were (very high vdi ) I was pretty sure it was a state forest sign or beer can  but I always dig these targets !!!! Well one I opened up the hole and was pleasantly surprised it was deeper than a couple of inches and yes Jeff (Lodge Scent) you guessed it !! A shoe buckle 63421 :cheering::happy:!! The day was coming together nicely and it was only about 10:30 in the morning  63422 . Again with limited space to hunt we covered it pretty fast and wanted to hit some of the other cellars in the area. At these I only picked up a few more buttons and a couple of tack buckles but I did get a small two piece cuff eagle button , My second military button of the year !:smitten:63423 here is the buckle cleaned up with a silver plated button I had found a couple weekends ago from another hunt. 63424
I'm still working on the coins for now but I don't have a lot of promise for either . If I can id them I'm happy , hopefully the weather will cut us a break i'm getting tire of shoveling !
