I was not going to post until after my trip but I could not resist after making the find of my life. We went on a field called the Roman hoard field where I found four small Roman coins. One has some nice detail the others are toasted. They are all about the diameter of a pencil eraser and we’re from 4-10 on the Equinox, which is just over the iron. After lunch we moved to a field called castle because it once had a castle on it. It also had Roman coins found on it. My first coin on this field was a big copper Roman about the size of a quarter. Shortly after that I hit a solid 86 on the Deus. When I first realized it was silver I thought I had another hammmerd silver until I started spraying the mud off with my water bottle and slowly revieled a Roman Silver. I about had a heart attack. I dropped my stuff and I think I was sprinting twords Tim (Illdigger) yelling “Roman Silver!!!!” So far this has been an amazing trip. 9 coppers, 8 Romans & 2 hammered silver plus many bits and bobs.

its not considered treasure, I should be able to take it home in 9-12 months. What hunt club are you going to the UK with?

I'll be with Brandon Neice (DrTones) and Chris from www.MetalDetectingHolidays.com (http://www.MetalDetectingHolidays.com). Land on the 16th, leave on the 29th with 10 fulls days of digging.
So anything over 50 years takes 9-12 months, even if it's not treasure? :(

Way to go Jeff!!! Curious as to who’s the Emperor on the obverse? Post Claudius I’d imagine.

Here is some more info on my Roman Silver. The guy that runs the hunt club has an expert that I.D. It. Below is what he wrote about it.
“This is a silique of Arcadius, 383-408 AD. It’s from the mint of Milan, 397-402 AD.
D N ARCADIVS P F AVG -- VOT / X / MVLT XV // MDPS
This is quite a decent piece”
