Bucket List Time / My first Shield Nickel

I met up with Noah Saturday for a little door knocking. We did several houses and the finds were slow but steady.
My first hole of the first house was a 1934 merc. The next three houses produced a 64 Rosie, an 1892 Indian and an extremely worn 1873 Indian.
We were doing the last house of the day and I got a 12-14 under a low hanging tree. When I popped it out I couldn't believe my eyes, it was an 1867 Shield Nickel. Wow, My first ever! and from a 1914 house. Go figure. Five minutes later I got a deep 12-13 about two feet away from the shield. This time a no date Buff.
I also dug 19 Wheat Cents.

the green Indians are always so appealing :smitten:even the smooth ones  huge congrats on the shield nickel Don , not an easy coin to come up with !!:notworthy:

Huge congrats on the shield and your other keepers. As far as the shield goes it is a coin that has eluded me.....

Congrats Don on the Shield Nik! that is still on my list too. You are getting really close to 100 Indians for the year...hope you make it!

Nice Don, and congrats on your first Shield Nickel. I've had a friend dig one 5 feet from me (:bangahead02:) but never dug one myself. Keep finding the goodies!

Congrats on your bucket list find, Don! As Shield Nickels go yours is in pretty good shape with a clear date. So often the date is illegible on them.

That 1873 Indian Head is really cool too. Very worn but not corroded at all. I like the smooth, green patina on it.

:congrats:

Great find Don, never have found one. I recall my Dad found 1 or 2 in the 70's and those were the days when everywhere you went was unhunted. Congrats on a tough find. WD
