Wanted to share a find I made last Friday got about a one hour hunt in after work found a couple buttons and then turn up what I thought was a silver dime when I got home and cleaned it off a coin I didn't recognize had to look it up a 2 cent Austrian shilling funny how a coin came so far to Southeastern Ohio 61775

You just never know what you're going to find when out detecting. I've certainly found my share of oddities. Some examples: coins from Australia including a silver coin ring, 1873 Netherlands 10 cent and play coins from Nazi Germany found in a small lake. Probably the most surprising was an 1800s Dutch customs tax seal which is the only one known found in the US.

Very cool. I love odd finds like that. Makes you wonder what root it traveled to get there.

In agreement that you never know what will be found. Could that Australian shilling owners relatives still be the area????

Yeah that one thing I like about metal detecting thinking about how those objects end up were they do I knew the lady that lived in the house she past in 1976 or so it's neat to think she may have held some of this stuff in her hands
