Hi all,
I got out after work this morning for a few hours to the little park that I found the merc and Indian last time. This morning started slow, but I got onto a small area that I began to get some very deep iffy but repeatable signals. First few holes I popped some early wheats including a 1913D, 1917, 1926, and a 1929.
One signal showing a 12-40 at 8" was only repeatable in one direction and sometimes squeaked in the other. I figured it was a nail, but decided to dig it anyway. Sure enough, dug a bent nail. Rechecked the hole and the pinpointer got another hit maybe 2 more inches down. Picked up a dirt ball and saw a silver rim! Flipped off the dirt and saw the "one dime", flipped it over and saw a really nice 1901 Barber with the liberty intact! Wow
A little later I picked up a 46 wheat, then got another deep iffy 12-36. Figured another wheat, but was surprised to end my hunt with a beautiful 1893 IH, nice green with liberty still visible! Really happy about this one. :)
As an aside I almost had a heart attack digging a deep 12-26 when I saw a perfectly sized gold rim. Turned out to be a 2 1/2 dollar gold coin sized metallic gold colored button. Dang!
Tomorrow I'm put for the whole day. Found an old swimming hole and hoping it pans out.
