Virgin park 3: The power of PI!

Hi all,
Went back to the park for about an hour before work, though I got stopped early because of rain and lightning. But, as I mentioned in the previous post I brought out the TDI to work the area I previously hit with the CTX using both the 11 and 17 inch coils.
As I expected, it was just loaded with nails and wire of which I dug plenty. But I also was able to wrangle some great keepers from the depths. The biggest surprise was an 1895 IH that was about 4 inches directly below a rusty key of some sort ( sardine can?).
I also nabbed a really nice 1923 Merc, plus 4 more wheats that were hiding. They are 1919, 29, 27 and a 44.

I know there is. I just started working under the power lines near some transformers with the TDI today just as it started to rain. Hit the 1919 wheat there. Impossible area to detect with the CTX with the insane amount of EMI. But the PI was totally unaffected so far, so I'm hoping!

I was curious about the bar token I found. I cannot find a single listing for the names on it, and only a couple limited genealogy hits. But I did find something interesting. The bar price for beer being sold for 5 cents was around the 1870s to maybe into the mid 1880s according to a couple web sites. Also, the only hit for one of the names on the token in my area was born 1854, which fits the possible timeframe. He would have owned and ran the bar starting in his early 20s.
Further research found the local big breweries (Pabst, Schlitz, etc) all had beer gardens that were more like amusement parks with live music, rides, circus acts, and exotic animals on display. There also were many privately owned beer gardens in and around the city as well, so competition was fierce. But one thing that seemed to be consistent was that in the 1870s to mid 1880s, the beer was 5 cents, and for a quarter the kids got a hand full of tickets good for soda, treats, etc.

Rarely. I used it for a farm field hunt couple weeks ago with the 15" NEL 3 frequency coil running at 3khz for max depth. It's a lot lighter than the CTX. But usually the woman uses it now. As little as she does, haven't had to change batteries yet this year! She hunts maybe 20 minutes then goes looking for the nearest pub to wait for me. :lol:

Nice going Chris , congrats on more great finds !! How ironic , you've got the cold , wet weather and we've got a highly unusual , incredibly hot , heat wave ( 104 degrees in my backyard yesterday ).I'll be sitting today out again .Hopefully I can get out Monday. Like Harry Callahan once said "a man has got to know his limitations" . I've sure been feeling mine lately .
