About a month ago my family helped out a neighbor bail some hay. I grew up on a farm and NOW my family realizes why we do NOT farm anymore. Anyway I stopped by the farmers house and asked to detect it. I got the yes from him and as it turns out they also own 3 other 1800 homes down the road. So my boys and I got to detect 3 nice old homes but unfortunately there was not much in terms of old coins found. Not pictured is a sterling ring my youngest boy found.

The best find was a Civil War Store Token that cleaned up much nicer than I first expected. When I first saw it I was disappointed because I thought it was just a wheatie but I wiped the back and saw the writing and I knew exactly what I had found. The first pic is after I rinsed it in a bird bath at the home. When I got home I put it into some boiling peroxide for JUST 30 seconds. The dirt came right off! This is by far the best CW Token I have found!

Wow! That Civil War store card is awesome! It cleaned up really well, you can read everything on it clearly. What a neat piece of history! :clapping:

Very nice token! They often hold up a bit better than the standard IHs. The old pocket watch case is also a good find. Always love when 1 permission turns into multiples!

Very cool old token, and also some nice silver. No.matter what, swinging the coil is a lot better than swinging a hay hook or a pitchfork. (Though i personally do miss farm work)

Nice recovery on a great piece of history. There were many different CW store cards and some have a decent value.
Holy CRAP that's a beauty!! The history just jumps from it!! Wonder what was bought with it? :notworthy:

Nice CWT, congrats on that! Used to help my grandpa bail hay when I was a kid. Good memories of farm work.

No guts in it. Guessing it broke and Dad gave it to his kid who eventually lost it in the yard...too bad the kid did not put a barber dime in it.
Congrats on the pocket watch case (fancy one too) and the store card token and well done on the cleaning job :notworthy:

As always the silver is always a welcome site!
Congrats on the shiny stuff! And Congrats to Jr. on his Sterling ring!:groovy:
But as most know I'm a token guy and that store card token is sweet! It cleaned up beautifully :loveit:
I found my first one just a couple of weeks ago. On fathers day.

Grats on the token and that watch case has some interesting fancy to it. Good think you did help out with the hay as it got you those spots.
