Hi all,
While detecting an 1850s site I only found one interesting item, a pole tag from a now defunct electric rail line. I had always wondered about the many miles of abandoned rail beds across SE Wisconsin, now researching this tag it opened up that era of history.
The tag is reads T.M.E.R.&L. CO and 27-1275. That translates to The Milwaukee Electric Rail and Light company which ran from the late 1800s to 1951. I'm assuming the tag is probably from 1927?

Here's the link to a web site with lots of historical info and pics. http://www.tmer.org/Section/History/The_Milwaukee_Electric_Railway_and_Light_Company/index.html
Unfortunately there wasn't anything else I found there.
