One of my BEST hunts EVER!

Hey Diggers,
Yesterday I met up with Digger Don and we tried a different section of the town we have been hunting this entire year. I got our first permission at 7:45 a.m. and we finished our 8th house at 5:45 p.m. I had a couple firsts for me. My first ox knob and my first "hard times" token. My best find was a 1843-O seated half dollar (my second one!). I also found a murdered 1818 large cent.

The Seated Half rang up as 12-40 at 10 inches deep. I thought it was going to be a deep wheat cent until I got closer and my probe was screaming at me! Thankfully I got it out of the ground with no scratches or dings.

Here's a bit of advice if you are door knocking in old neighborhoods. Don't be afraid to detect at the newest home on the block! If all the houses on the block date to the 1880s and there is one that looks 1930s go ahead and ask permission. That house may have replaced a much older one or the lot it's on may have been part of the yard of the house next door.

I'm starting to think Don is a good luck charm because I always get great finds when we meet up!

Here's some pics. Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

That indeed was a great hunt. the Seated looks even better in the 2nd post. ust a really great coin. Did you make Don hunt with one hand tied behind his back?. Great permissions guys. WD

All I can say is... :wow:

Mind blowing hunt, Dave! So many banner worthy finds there. I love that Francisco & Co. Hatters token, or store card, or whatever it is. It's beautiful and no doubt very old. Wonderful!

But that 1843-O is over the top! I hope you got that recovery on video. Holy cow, what a find! It's in great shape too! Spectacular! :notworthy:

:perfect10:

With all those tags for finds I thought it was the hunt posted a week or two ago. Grats on all those silver, and that big half too. I like that HTT too, it is interesting how it was a plated token.

:wow:that's is a lot to take all in Dave :shocked03: First that half is amazing :loveit: great shape too :perfect10: and the hatter's store card token is a very cool piece as well :clapping: very nice poste showing the home sites and the locations of the finds , a very nice put together post my friend !mega-congrats :notworthy:

Dave, absolutely beautiful Seated 1/2. I have to agree with Dan, great posting with you being able to show the locations of the coins. By the way I have PM'd Don, suggesting that he get a cut of your digs seeing that he is the good luck charm.....

Love the way you tagged to photo's with where things were found. I think I'm Don's good luck token, and need to charge him with half his silvers..... well except the last time we were out.
Thanks Dave for showing us that seated halves are still out there!!! :perfect10:
