Hi all,
I got back out to a permission for a couple hours yesterday and did pretty well especially for a place hunted so hard for so long. A couple coins were so obvious i couldnt believe ther were missed! The first being only my 4th Barber dime, and the best condition one to date. Found it near a walkway only about 3 inches deep. The next good find wasn't too far away, but was a sketchy 12-38 about 6 inches among lots of iron. Turned out to be a pretty nice 1899 IH! After a while of nothing else, I moved across a parking lot to the front lawn area of the newer part of the building. I didn't expect to find much, but the first signal I got was a deep 12-36. Turned out to be much deeper than expected. About a foot down I pulled another cast horse harness buckle cover! These tend to date to the mid to late 1800s, before they started using stamped pieces.
After this I managed a couple deep squeakers that were repeatable signals. Both turned out to be 40s merc, so very happy with that! I also found another complete but crunched model T hub cap, harmonics reed, and a few more miscellaneous items. All in all, a good day!

Great Job. Looks like you had a busy couple of hours. All the coins look great, but that Barber looks fantastic.
:congrats: on a very productive hunt!

Great hunt Chris, nothing better than barbers with Liberty showing. To bad a Rosie did not show up. Nice finds. WD

Nice job Chris! Barber's in excellent shape. Funny, I found nearly the exact same cast buckle about a month or so ago. Very nice mid to late 1800s relic!

Thanks everyone! Like I was saying, I don't see barbers often, and this was only my 4th dime.
Don, the IH cleaned up beaitifully, and looks to be in VF condition.
Dave, thanks much! First one with the liberty for me. As for a Rosie, still haven't seen one this year. Go figure.
Jeff, thanks again! Been a tough year for silver so far. Hope it picks up for everyone!
John, it's actually a buckle cover to keep them from getting snagged on anything or stuck in the horses tail. Thats something few know about today, but was an everyday item back then. They had me confused for a long time until I found them listed in an old catalog with the description.

Chris, that is one beautiful Barber. Plus a pair of matching merc's....:thumbsup02:. Finally hit the 1800's, it was just a matter of time.
