Yesterday I went back to the field that I found my first seated quarter in the day before. I spent another 4 1/2 hrs in the 20 to 30 mph winds! At least the high winds and sunshine started to dry up the sloppiness of the mud. It wasn't quite as sticky as it was Saturday.
I had another good day!!

I got another seated coin! :yahoo:

This time a 1875 CC Seated dime!!

My first Carson City mint coin!!

A couple more firsts for me, were my first stamped brass padlock key hole cover. And what I believe to be my first ox knob? Correct me if I'm wrong. I thought it'd be bigger. (Insert humor here.) :lipssealed:

WTG Tim! Huge congrats on that seated and ox knob! That lock cover is another really cool find. Having the stamp it should be pretty easy to track down.

Wow! Can you believe it? A ox knob! :thumbsup02: .....
Yeah, it's about the diameter of a quarter. I thought maybe I had found the Illinois equivalent to the New England area ox knob, a goat knob! :duh: .....
Thanks for the verification Dan! :notworthy:

Thanks Chris!
The keyhole cover was a screamer!! I thought that I might have another big silver coin when I went over it!
I looked it up last night. It's from what's called a smokehouse lock. It was made by Mallory Wheeler & Co. I'm still trying to pin down the date range.

Great hunting Tim....:thumbsup02:. Yes you are a member of the F.O.O.K. (Finder Of Ox Knobs) club. Braving those winds sure paid off. Congrats on another seated, especially nice it's a CC. Where's the metal on the teeth????

Dang, Tim-meh. Grats on the seated duo. Can you make it a trio or quartet with nabbing a half dime or a half dollar? I can think to replace my Draped bust with a Carson City mint mark coin.

Congrats on the Carson City coin! That is still on my bucket list. They aren't common here in Illinois. Awesome find!

 Thanks Al!! As long as no one calls me a dumb F.O.O.K. for standing out in those winds to retrieve it! :hystericallaugh:

You know James a half dime sure would put a smile on my face!! That and a quarter were the two I needed to complete the complete seated set; half, quarter, dime, half-dime. Maybe I'll nab one while I'm out there! :crossfingers:

Nice finds Tim.....
Thanks Dave! :thumbsup01:

Oh boy do they!! When I went over it I was like... :shocked04: ... I thought the machine was going to overload or I had another big silver coin. Then when I seen it .... :eyebrow:

What's the story with the teeth?
No metal in the teeth Al.
In this field there is broken glass, stoneware, China, pottery all over the place. The teeth were a eyeball find. They're ceramic I believe. After they plant the crops this spring and in the future I'll be keeping my eyes open for the other pieces!
