Night time dig on a warm winter's night - Spanish Real!

My buddy and I headed out after work and spend almost 4 hours swinging. In the first 30 minutes he found a KG III, a large cent and an Indian. After 3 hours he had 5 coins...and I had a bunch of buttons. Buttons are nice, but I love the old coins lol. As we were working our way back to the car I finally had a decent high tone....my first Spanish Real! It's not in good shape, but at least I could make out the date. 1789, which confused me at first because I thought the last year for this coin was 1788. CoinDatabase mentions a 1789 strike as well.

Thank you! I know right, lol. These old coins we dig aren't really worth a lot resale value, but I know I would not sell that coin for $500. My first Spanish real, I'll have it until I die lol.

Congrats on your first Spanish silver! Always a great feeling to pull and old coin out of the ground.

Thanks John! Yep, when I saw it, I was like OMG! lol
