Scouted a new area this morning hoping to locate a cellar hole. Never did find one but I hit an old stock pen that gave up a few goodies.

Managed a snag an 1816 Matron head along one of the walls.

Pulled a few buttons and a chape along with a handful of shot shells and some deep iron.

Beautiful morning out in the woods. Cold but no wind.

Nice Matron, Jeff. I still see some snow in your pic. I was ecstatic that it was gone as of lately, although this weekend had a few spots where the ground was chunky from the recent rain that froze, even with the leave covering. I found my matron spill this past summer in the pen. Not much else was close to the house site.

I agree with the others, that's a heck of a coin! I hope you find the cellar!

Thanks Gents! Good detail on the largie but frail patina. That's about as good as it is going to look. Brushed the loose dirt off and gave at a coating of Ren Wax and called it a day. Water or peroxide would have killed it.

It's got me wondering too Dan. It's brass sheeting. Wide opening is about 5/8 inch, small opening about 3/8 inch. I was thinking a pour spout for something but what I don't know. Any ideas?

does it have a seam running down the length , Jeff?

Yes, it appears just overlapped, not crimped.
I've seen native American copper or brass pipes similar to that item
