Sunday morning was so nice that I pulled another two-a-day. My morning hunt was a 2hr cellar hole excursion where I found everything pictured but the Barber. I was glad to find that colonial buckle piece as I know that site is old, but everything I've found there up to that point was from the late 19th century or 20th-century.
In the afternoon I hit a park that has been very good to me this year. The Barber was deeper than the length of my 9in pro-pointer. Odd...my machine said 83 from all directions and 8in, with a "coin tone." I was excited BUT when I got to 8in and didn't hear it on my pointer, AND it then went up to 95, I was depressed. That means large iron...maybe an ox shoe. Then I popped it out :shocked01: I'll take it!!
I also found a pigeon band that says "AU42 Fall River" on it. Turns out that Fall River MA has a Pigeon racing club and the AU is their abbreviation, 42 is the year. I'm going to ask them if they want it.
Thanks for looking! :)

Great finds Drew. Congrats on the trifecta! That pigeon band is a really cool find too. Guessing that pigeon was probably a meal for a local hawk.

Very nice finds! I found a bird band once, sent in somewhere, can't remember where, and they sent me a whole sheet back about the bird and there program.

Thanks, fellas! I don't know how that wiped copper-nickel sized thing got in the picture as I found that last week.

Drew, congrats on that trifecta. Another 2 a day with great results. I am sure you probably have mentioned it but how old is that park?

Good job on the dime trifecta, Drew! :clapping:
That 1852 Seated Dime is a real beauty. We don't find them that old very often here in Illinois. That cellar hole must have been used as a home site for many decades.

:thumbsup01: Nice trifecta Drewsy. (Druzy is the real spelling). Lol.... I sometimes get shocked when I hear nothing but iron grunts and clicks and then there's a 80s or 90s vdi. I almost don't trust it. That bird tag is pretty cool. I am used to seeing the regular DEP (DEEP) ones which are all mangled when you find them.

Thanks, guys! Al, that park has history back to English settlement. It wasn't always a park, though.

Hey Drew, the Fall River Racing pigeon club is 1 mile down the road from my house. My deceased father in law was a big time pigeon racer. That could be a band from one of his!
Is there a serial number on the band ?
