I got permission to hunt a home that was built around 1830-1840 that has a lot of history associated with it. The property was once owned by Lt. Col. Bartholomew who was a well know Indian fighter in his time. There is an Indiana county named after him.

Here is a picture of the house as it looks today:

Congrats on getting permission for that old of a house. I would have been drooling  I have received permission to hunt a colonial tavern and did so, only to find a Mercury dime as my oldest coin lol At least you got a large cent which dates back to the beginnings of that place. Nice Barber and a real nice V nickel. Sometimes old places have so many layers of trash that it may take a while to get to the oldest layer. Nice finds!

Wow I bet that 1820 LC was lost not soon after the house was built :) So is that your odest coin yet?

Love the pic of the house, congrats on ALL of your great finds there. I know you're not done there yet lol
I really like the gypsy looking bracelet with bells...

That is my oldest coin to date. I have found 3 Large Cents; 1851, 1837, and 1820. My oldest silver is a 1837 Capped Bust dime. Love these old home sites. :happydance01:

Wow, what a site! I am drooling  Beautiful coins! How deep were they?

Those old home sites are great opportunities if you can get on them!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. The barber and V were in the same hole at 6 inches. The large was at 8 inches under a big tree root.

The place is loaded with square nails and pieces of tin from the old roof which has been removed. I am sure there is more goodies there, but due to the masking I think they will stay there. I have hunted it slow and hard with the 4x6 dd. I will go back in the winter as there are grown up areas I couldn't hunt.

So it's off to 5 more sites I have lined up. Oh yeah.........they look as promising as this one.
