My third Draped Bust LC of the month and a few other relics

Plans to join up with a local detectorist didn't pan out so I trucked a half hour north to a huge permission property I've hunted a few times over the past year. 4000 acres with 4 homesites - but a lot, and I mean a lot of hiking uphill - something like 2 miles to the biggest and best site. Got to that last site and decided to work the road first...bam, 5 minutes in a Great Seal button. Then bam - 5 minutes later my 3rd Draped Bust LC of the month :happydance01:. Crazy. Another no date - sheesh - what's a guy have to do to get a date off an old coin these days :lol:. Not complaining at all though. Followed that with half of a huge crotal bell, conestoga bell and a few other doo-dads. Spent about 3 hours there before heading back out so obviously the finds where kinda few and far between. That first half hour on the road was worth it though. Thanks for looking and HH!

You are doing very nicely John if you can manage 3 DBs in a month. I don't mind a long hike into a site as long as it isn't too hot. That's a gnarly old tree. Easily could have been there when they put in those cellar holes.

Nice finds and quite a big tree. Seems that site lasted until sometime between the teens and early 40s. Idk why a few times recently I seem to find the latest things dropped, but it does help to know when the site lasted so know the age range of things you will find. I have been checking the roads more lately and it has panned out for me, altho I don't focus there, just check them either otw in or out.

Thanks Dan. Been a nice month for me, and I'll keep that in mind when things slow down from time to time in future. That's the great thing about this hobby, you never know what's gonna pop out of the ground.

Thanks Jim and you're correct. The site was there from the earlier half of the 1800s until 1916 to 1920 or so, so the Great Seal was from 1902 until about that time - likely WW1. Agree, always check those roads, and also the briar patches and steep embankments around the site if you can tolerate it - that's where most folks don't care to tread, which = goodies!

Thanks Jim - yeah, that Sugar Maple was quite impressive. My long camera shot really doesn't give that tree justice on how huge and old it was. I'm 6'3" and it dwarfed me. Probably 300 years old. HH!
