I spent about six hours metal detecting today at a local park that gets detected quite often. I was using my Teknetics Delta 4000. A great entry level machine once you get to know it. The dime pictured above is a 1953D and is the first 90% silver coin I have dug. It may not seem like a big deal, but I was on cloud nine. It was my first goal with the detector, to locate a silver coin. My next goal is a pre-1900's coin. In addition to the dime, I also dug up 67 cents in clad, a folded piece of copper flashing and a railroad spike that was an honest 8 inches down in nasty rocky root infested soil.
Happy digging everyone!
