Hi all,
After water detecting at 3 different beaches I gave it up and headed back to the old zoo. After 90 minutes of digging clad I suddenly got a funny 18-47/48 signal at about 6 inches down. Since the arid conditions already have been playing havoc on my VDIS, I decided to dig it. So glad I did. About 7 inches down I saw a large silver rim. Pulled it our and found myself with my second walking liberty half! It's in great condition too, and it's a 1939 S.

very nice , yes moisture definitely makes for more stable vdi's andtargets tohit harder sounding , while the dryer the soil the more jumpy or erratic they get . The smaller the target the more iffy they will sound . Congrats !!

There is a very large park in Milwaukee that was the zoo from about 1890 to when it was moved in the 1970s. Some small places in the park still have old soil with good finds left. The challenge is finding those little areas in the huge park. But since it's in the hood, I guess you could say I'm hunting between the monkeys! :hystericallaugh:

Great find Chris, all I can seem to find this year is big clad. I have 9 Kennedy Halves but no silver. If there is big silver to be found there certainly is more small silver. Good Luck. WD

Great coin!
We live down the coast from the San Francisco Zoo. It has been there almost forever! Whenever we take our grand daughter up there I just drool thinking about what must be in the ground there!!
