Was able to get out today -- first site was the location of an old baseball field that kept giving up pre '65 memorials :bangahead01: :bangahead01: for the better part of the morning, and with the weather 95 and frustrating I decided to move on to cooler pastures.
2nd site was an old homesite in the woods, nothing much left of it but telltale vegetation -- the fish weren't biting there either, so I decided to call it a day.
Just casually swinging along the trail out of the woods, hit an SLQ :happydance01: at about 1 inch (boy was I surprised), then about 15 minutes later on the trail, hit the merc at 2 inches -- a beat 1916, no mintmark
Also pulled a wheatie along the trail.
Better to be lucky than good I guess. The trail was the old road, rocky and such, so the stuff isn't sinking. I was just walking normally and swinging casually -- when I have more time I'll make a day of it and do some careful scans along that trail.
Also pulled a thingamajig and a whatchamacallit (they are about 2 inches tall).
