I was fortunate to hit a site recently just at the right time. I was thrilled to check one off the bucket list, an 1853 half dime, my first one and my new oldest silver coin.
You racked up the goodie on this hunt...:thumbsup02:. V nick, 2 cent, and huge congrats on your first 1/2 dime. They are a tiny coin. Being so small you'd think that more would have been lost.
Really nice assortment of keepers you found there! The half dime is a common mintage but a great find regardless. Looks like your V will also clean up nicely with some good detail showing through there in your pic.
Thanks Tony, yes a tear out project, that's about all I do all summer, too dry to dig anywhere but projects and the woods. I am hoping they pick wheat starting this week so I can get back in some fields as well!
You are definitely right on the dry ground. Nice tear-out hunt. I have found a few "play" money coins I thought were 1/2 dimes but never the real. Great finds WD
Nice score on the half dime. idk why many more aren't found cuz they are so small and easy to lose. wth is up with that coin near the IH and what appears to be a toasted nickel (cuz it's same size as the V nickel next to it).
