1921 SLQ + More Large Silver

I worked another section of the same park I hit on Wednesday, slowly working a grid in the hopes of digging up a few more silver dimes. But what a surprise I had! I dug mostly large silver, and nice ones too!

The first surprise find was a 1915 Republic of Cuba 40 cent silver coin. It's almost the size of a US half dollar, and heavy too. When I first saw the edge sticking out of the soil I thought that I had found a half dollar. I was not disappointed with what it ended up being though.

The second surprise was a 1946 Walking Liberty Half dollar, the second one this week from that park. :smitten:

The third surprise, and a big one, was digging up a 1921 Standing Liberty quarter! :loveit: I can make out the last two digits. :smitten:

Then came a 1902 Barber quarter.

I also found a 1951-S Washington quarter and a 1957 Roosevelt dime. Here is the loot.

This one has me stumped. The words read The Fayo and Mascot. Any ideas?

Have a great weekend everyone!

HH!

All great finds Angel. The 40 Centavos is especially nice. It even has the weight and purity minted right on the coin! It has such a nice patina too. The Egyptian thing is interesting. I do know that in the 1920's, Egyptian style jewelry and fashion became all the rage after the discovery of king Tut's tomb. Congrats and thanks for posting. I love to see them old coins!

:shocked04: :shocked04: :shocked04: Whoo hoo. Careful cleaning that '21 SLQ...it starts out at around $160.00 in G4. Nice big silver and the late date WL halves always get me. Somehow I alway think they ended in 1945 not 1947  Old age stinks  Great hunt!!

Wow, what an afternoon! :shocked04: Yet another silver half, and I love that Cuban 40 cent piece! And a rare date SLQ :shocked04: That is my dream kind of detecting day. (I'm sure it will remain in my dreams, too  )

I really want to know what that last thing is. Are you sure that reads Fayo? (I know... now you have to go fish it back out of the I'll deal with it in a few years pile)

Thanks everyone! :thumbsup02:

The only cleaning was a bath of water and then it went straight to a 2x2.

I know what you mean about dates on the WL halves. Yeah, I guess it is age catching up with us.
