Trooper Bri and I decided to go back to the cabin site that was so good to us two weeks ago . This site had produced almost 90 buttons and some decent relics and half a copper total on the last trip and we thought we should get back there before all the briars and tall grass grow back . We hunted there all day at this one spot and i got to explore a bit more and found a couple of "hotspots" .

the bugs were out in force and the gnats and small black flies were biting me pretty good . I left my other hat (that has a built in bugnet) in the jeep as i didn't think they would be so bad yet :hairpulling:they were relentless :needadrink: :lol: I saw many other critters out as well , this garter snake was actually trying to eat a salamander

While the little red salamanders are very prevalent , you don't see the yellow spotted salamander very often , he really didn't mind posing for me while sunbathing

well the day was about more buttons ! i netted a total of 41 on this trip :happydance01::cheering: , not as many fancy or designed ones .Two nice un-crushed thimbles some nice shoe buckle fragments .

One of the hotspots i mentioned was in a small corner of a field where i pulled up about a dozen buttons . A thimble and two jaw harps came from this area too! The middle item in this picture with the jaw harps i believe is a bayonet scabbard tip :happydance01:

My coppers (2 for the day) , one was a very smooth "disk" with graffiti scratching of some kind it was fund right next to a cabin site mixed in the iron. its doubtful that i will get an id on this one .

the other large cent copper was found pretty early on and wasn't very far from the cabin either , I knew it was a matron head type of large cent :yes:and told Brian that i bet is was an early (in the teens) one.

The initial cleaning proved my first thought that this was an early matron head type , ts starting to looks pretty good :cheering:

this was just after a quick tooth picking and i'll post a final picture after its waxing .
My day was a very good one but without spoiling it i'll just say Brian had a fantastic one and will always remember this site !!
