Ill Digger

I've been driving by this old farm house for the past 5 years. Wishing that someday, maybe just someday, I'd get a chance to detect it. :daydream:
Carved in the stone above the front door is the original owners name and the date 1854!

I had the day off Thursday so we drove out to the old farm house and asked the 85 year old farmer and he said "Sure. Go ahead. I don't care.":yahoo: Thursday we hunted there for about 5 or 6 hrs. Ted found a Barber dime and a Merc (in the same hole). And I nabbed 3 IHS and a few wheats. Figuring that there had to be more I headed back solo on Saturday . Despite the 50 mph winds and temporary white outs I gave it another 2 1/2 hrs. 1 more IH and 1 more wheat. I haven't given up on it yet. But I think it's been heavily detected in the past.
Sunday morning Ted and I meet up with Don (DiggerDon) for some door knocking. We got permission for a old farm site. The barns, out buildings, and the old trees are the only thing still standing. Nothing but trash there for me. Ted got a 1907 IH. Don had a nice find there. So we moved on.
We moved on till we found this 1860s-1870 farm house.
Got a yes and started swingin :detecting:

The only silver for me came in the former of a tiny sterling ring.
It came with a nice little bonus! A cobalt blue and white marble!

I got 11-39/40 dug it and thought that I had a worn silver quarter when I seen a shiny edge on a quarter sized object. I picked it up and could tell it was lite for a silver coin. I stared to wipe the dirt off I thought it must be a token. Turns out it's a 1943 French 1 Franc.

I did some research and it turns out it's from the Western Utility Gas & Electric Co.
Seems they were in business from 1912 to 1925.

Thought this was just a piece of scrap aluminum, turns out it's a (broken) 1950's Cracker Jacks "The Noisy" toy.
