Had a great time with my two long time friends Todd (Thiltzy) and Dave (HEAVYMETALNUT) yesterday trudging through the woods in search of colonial history . Unfortunately the four "new" sites were pretty "barren" of finds .

One of the first buttons was this nice designed 1-piece "dome" button

at another site i picked up this nice little colonial "open work" frame knee buckle , its kind of hard to see but there are leaf stamped motifs around the frame . although i have found many broken fragments this is my first intact "open type" knee buckle :yahoo:

Shortly after the buckle i got a great looking large dandy button , this one is very close to the size f a half dollar and has a nice "spiral sunburst" design.

Finally at the last site i saved myself from going home "copper-less" by nabbing this 1731 King George II half penny
http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr228/del1786/2016/King%20George%20II_zpsxhf7tvsr.jpg (http://s486.photobucket.com/user/del1786/media/2016/King%20George%20II_zpsxhf7tvsr.jpg.html)
this was the total of the keepers , about ten buttons in all , the shotgun shells that i dug this day out numbered the buttons about 2 1/2 to 1  and a few of the sites were plaqued with cross century contamination and a lot of modern trash was pouched and carried out .
