Don't be shy! This is not a competition, just a thread for everyone to showcase their two best finds from 2015. We all have made finds we are proud of, so why not share them!

My two best of the year are quite easy to choose, one is the rare Blacksmith token I've found, a type of coin I've wanted to dig for basically as long as I've detected, and the Rev War 76th officer button, also a fairly rare find, an in about the best condition I could ever hope for. It's only my 2nd Rev War British numbered officer button in 15 years of detecting.
The Blacksmith token hunt was the best hunt my friend and I had this Fall, and probably tied for best ever. It was great just with the Rev War buttons and everything else we dug, but to get home and discover I had the coin... definitely the icing on the cake... like three coats of icing I was so glad to finally find one of these things.

The 76th hunt was also a lot of fun, but very different than the blacksmith one in that I had dug lots, but nothing great.... a post, but the same, old same old. It was with about an hour left to hunt I took a walk down near the river, didn't dig but two targets, and one was the button. It was one of those moments that will be engrained in my memory forever.

If my two best for 2016 are on par with these I am certainly looking forward to it. :)

First would have to be the 1857 Half dime I dug at the old church.
Second would have to be the 1865 Two cent Piece. It was #1 on my bucket list at the start of the season.

I had kind of a slow year detecting, but I would say that these two were my favorite finds in 2015. They were both found at the same farm.

My two favorite finds of 2015 include a G.A.R. veterans medallion/badge (possibly Sons of Veterans) and an early Rutland & Burlington Railroad luggage tag.
The G.A.R. badge was found in an old rock wall-lined field (now wooded) about 100 yds from an old cellar hole. At first I thought I'd dug a simple boyscout's badge as it was only a few inches deep. But after some cleaning, some feedback from folks on this site and additional research I was able to gain a positive ID. It's early 20th century so certainly not as old as many finds on the forum, but really gives provenance to the site. I'm in the process of trying to ID the person this may have belonged to.

The railroad tag was found at a mid to late 19th century cellar hole which was a bit off the beaten path. In great shape despite all those years in the ground and was able to establish a date after research on the manufacturer and occupation period of the site. Didn't get much feedback from the local railroad clubs about relative scarcity. Sent a few contact emails but just got crickets.

As a quick side note, I've started a new YouTube channel called BTV Digger. Just one video highlighting my 2015 top ten list (including these two pieces). Check it out if you find time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKOv4ykEjAQ). Best wishes to all in 2016 and HH!

The best two for me would be my first trime, and an 1808-1830's US Army general service button.

522415224252243Doing some counting it seems that I only managed to get in about 21 hunts this past year.
So here are my two best:
1913 Massachusetts Motorcycle Registration. These fobs were only issued between 1910 and 1914. I also read that roughly only 8000 of these were issued.

My second choice would be this 1787 CT copper. It has been identified as a Miller 28 -o. Whitman shows 17-32 known and a rarity of URS - 6. Coinfacts shows 25-30 known and a rarity of R-6.

My 1st pick for best find was easy. Very early in the year I found a Gold Bracelet with 6 Gold rings. All the rings were between 10-14K as well as the Bracelet. 1 of the Rings had a small Diamond. I believe it was lost some years ago as attempts to get info from the Camp Site went no where. My next best find could of been any number of Coins as I found several I have not found before and I found some great coin spills. I settled on the Barber Half as it was the 1st one I found since getting back into Metal Detecting and I think it will be awhile before I find another if ever. Great year hi-lited by a couple of pretty nice finds. Wisconsin Digger

Here are my best 2 finds from 2015. Pretty easy choice for me. I found these back in April while on a detecting vacation with a buddy of mine. The 1812 Half was found at a field site and the 1830 5 cent was found in a small park in an old town the very next day.

I learned a lot in 2015. My two best finds were my first silver coin,,, and my first gold ring.
A very nice surprise this past year :shocked03: was this 1789 George Washington Campaign/Inaugural Button (GWI 11-B) that cleaned up very well and some of the original silver gilt or wash was still evident on parts . what made it very special was sharing the moment and excitement with a new detecting partner Trooper Bri (Brian) .
And my other special find was this very sharp 1853 Seated Half Dime . This was a cool find because I also got to share it with Ill Digger (Tim it was a great time with you ) when he came out to visit and dig colonial coins and relics .
