new to beach detecting

Hey Folks, I'm bringing my XP Deus to Florida to do some beach detecting this winter. Totally new to this type of detecting. I heard the Deus suffers in wet sand, is that true? Anyone use the coax cable antenna for shallow water? Any tips? Thanks
