Went out Sat. with CC to a few sites. Ended up at a park we've been working for a while. Of course, the person who introduced us to the place has already ravished it but left a few goodies behind. Anyway, I ended up with 2 quarters and my bud had 2 dimes. The '46 was really a surface coin just below the sod. I always dig surface quarters as they turn out to be rings occasionally. I thought it was clad until I examined the date...not sure why it is discolored but silver nonetheless.
The '44 I am very Happy with because I had a good sound , however, the pinpoint pulled me 6 away but the sound was too strong so I dug. About 5 down, under a root ; i looked in the hole and saw the coin sitting flat. The edge was exposed and I REALLY thought I saw stars around the edge..but not this time. Anyway a new technique for determining if there is a coin near garbage did work, however, this one was pretty obvious being a great signal. Of course I could have opted no to dig but I am glad I did. Interestingly, Scott, when told where I found it, said he had passed that one by the other day. I guess he opted out of that dig. Later on he asked how I liked HIS quarters. :behave: :beatdeadhorse:
After leaving the 100 degree heat, we went home (about 1 hr away), I played some hoops and decided I hadn;t had enough so out the SE came again :beatdeadhorse:. This place has given up very little but I though a miracle can always happen. I had another surface quarter (00 29 ont he SE for the home-gamers) and dug it. Shook the dirt, broke the sod until I was holding the tiniest little piece and could see nothing. I thought, this must be a piece of junk ' :teasing: cause a quarter would have come out by now.....nope this silver ring surprised me tremendously
The next day, we went out again to our local hunted out parks. Managed 1 wheatie :peace: and a 2lb piece of old copper. My bud had nothing. I also found a surface dog tag with a phone #. I called today and a woman answered who was very happy to hear that I would send it on to her. No sense in her paying to have another engraved with a phone #. Who knows, maybe she'll need my insurance services!
HH ...my new goal is to master the art of locating coins adjacent to trash and iron (I call it where the goods are)
