I only had time for two quick hunts this weekend. Saturday found me at at site where I hunted once before but only found a couple wheats, no silver. I focused on the edges and very quickly found the 44 Merc, it has almost no wear. About 1/2 hour later I got a diggable signal, but somewhat cluttered. A 1929 wheat was first out of the hole, but the pinpointer said more was there. Pushed in the Lesche and out flipped my first silver half in almost 2 years. The broken ring was nearby, quite deep and looked old, but so light I figured it was aluminum. It is actually marked sterling, so I will count it.

Sunday found me at another park I have worked before (good silver producer for me) but I had seen some old photos on the web showing where football bleachers had once been located. I had not hunted that area thoroughly before so for two hours I did that. I got the 1930 Buff right away and figured that was a good sign. 20 yards away a very mixed signal (with 10-45 showing about every other swing) produced a nail, 1942 Merc and about 18 inches of wire from an 8 inch diameter plug. Good separation by the Etrac! The "ART" pin is marked sterling.

Lesson for the weekend was re-thinking spots that I gave up on too quickly, if they produced wheats but no silver in a past short hunt, they are definitely worth a more thorough search.51439

Nice batch of keepers there. Big silver is always a huge thrill especially in a coin spill. Great hunt WD
