Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Ill Digger Tim :notworthy: We hit a cellar that has been very cooperative :)
Tim is very knowledgeable and just a really good guy:yes:
We hunted maybe three hours, until dark. Both my coppers where holed, one also counter stamped...go figure.
My keepers for the day were-
1812 Classic head LC
1797 or 1807 Draped ("BM" counter stamp)
1920 Buff
Musket
Cuff Button
Four hole button
I hope Tim is out this way again soon!!
someone wanted to designate an event on that 1812 large cent as you can tell the nail went into the coin from the date side , maybe to signify the start of the war. It and the counter stamped draped bust are excellent finds , Tim has to be "jone-sing" pretty bad for after seeing some good coinage come up around him  congrats Drew !!:clapping:

Great finds! Poor Tim must have been going crazy seeing all these coins (1/2 dime and largies) popping out of the ground! HH guys, Dave.

Two neat coppers there Drew. Both have personality. Those Classic Heads are hard to find! I have more Liberty Caps than I do Classic Heads.

Thanks everyone. :notworthy:
I know Jeff, I can't remember finding one before this. I have one Liberty cap and now one classic head. How many Liberty caps have you found?

I take that back Drew, looking at my records I have 2 Liberty Caps and 2 Classic Heads. I forgot I had misidentified a toasty DB as a Liberty Cap. The two Classic Heads came from the same site about 5 feet apart! Both types are as hard to find as hen's teeth.

Nice score on those coppers, Drew. You been nailing it this season. Quite a bit of matrons came out of that spot so it was mostly active in the early 1800s, despite some earlier coinage coming out. Now that I think of it, Bri's deep (liberty cap?) and you W&M makes me think about this being a nice site to try and use a sifter.

Great finds Drew and I agree with Jeff that those coppers are unique. The classic head is an excellent find!

WTG on seeing double LC's in a hunt! Love the way they look as it add character to the coin. If it could only speak.
