Found this cool brass 10 cent token. The town East Enterprise is just about 10 miles from my house. Any ideas how old? I am guessing from 1900 - 1920?Found ths at a vacant lot owned by the town next to the current jail in my town. That is guts. I do have permission.5040950410

Very Cool! I looked in the token database and couldn't find it. Then looked for East Interprise Indiana and found this description of the place.
"East Enterprise is an unincorporated census-designated place in central Cotton Township, Switzerland County, Indiana, United States. Wikipedia"

I live 10 miles from East Enterprise. It is a 4 way stop sign in the country with about 25 homes. It used to have a bank and has a PO. There used to be a racetrack there in the 1800s. Any ideas how old this could be? Could not find a mention on a 1884 gazette about business there.

I would guess late 19th or early 20th century. This was the hay day for artistic plat maps in America. The cool thing is that they normally had business directories for the counties in their indexes. This is where I would look and will give you a better idea of it's age.

Nice find. Always love the old tokens. I'd concur with freemindstuck, something like in the 1890s to 1920s range as a first estimate. Congrats.

Nice token, and in great condition too! Did a brief search on the location and didn't find any reference to the pool room. I did try looking up the town, though I searched using the exact spelling on the token and only found 2 entries which date to around 1902 and prior, so hope this may be an indication.
If I get time tonight I will try to do a bit more research on the location and post anything I find here. I always love a good mystery!

Here's a link to a map of Switzerland county in 1876 showing East Enterprise:

Such a small and remote "town", apparently nothing noteworthy ever happened there. Only references to the town in any newspaper on record I can find are:

1) A pastor from there relocated to Lexington in 1965.
2) An article from Nevada where a former resident was run over and killed in East Enterprise back on Sep 4, 1923 (https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1908&dat=19230904&id=q08rAAAAIBAJ&sjid=8NcEAAAAIBAJ&pg=2813,4141430&hl=en)

Cool Map!
You have to wonder if the guy that ran him over had been drinking at the pool hall? Maybe he dropped the token afterwards?

thanks for the comments. When I was out detecting that day I found very little and decided to go over a previous spot that I have done with a V3i, and E-trac. Using the F75ltd2 with tornado coil I find this token on edge about 2 to 3 inches down. This was the last 30 minutes of a 4 hour hunt at 3 locations. never know when something good will pop up. I have found many good finds with the tornado coil on my etrac and F75LTD2. You all should try the tornado on your type of detectors, I believe it can sniff out targets missed by other coils. Thanks you all for your support. This is the only site I post on now. I got tired of negative comments on other sites.
