Got out this evening for about an hour and went to an old house that has only produced one flat button. I'm glad I didn't give up! It's kinda crusty but is soaking in olive oil as we speak!

Congrats Steve, can't wait to see it cleaned up! Maybe some hot peroxide and/or ultrasonic cleaning might help?

Very nice. I bet she will look great when she comes out of her EVOO bath. I see some detail there.

Very nice Steve and glad you didn't give up on that home. I prefer the H2O2 method as well, but as long as you're happy with the final results that's all that counts. Congrats.

Congrats on the 1831 Large Cent! That is a terrific find! :wow:

I have to say that I haven't had any luck cleaning coppers with olive oil, but maybe different soil conditions produce different results.

Way to sniff out a coin that is 184 years old!!! :congrats:
