Back in the dirt with SWEET results!

I managed to get out for an evening hunt tonight - my first time back in the dirt after a week's vacation at the beach. I headed for an oddball field that I started hunting this summer... hunted for an hour or so and found only a few dimes and pennies. I was getting ready to move on to greener pastures when I pulled a 1916 wheat, which of course renewed my interest. A short while later I got a nice tone which gave the distinct sound of either a clad quarter or a silver dime, either of which would have been fine at that point. I pulled a plug and was thrilled to see a '42 quarter. Sadly this is my first silver quarter of the year. A few targets later out pops a '42 Merc. I'm glad I stuck with this spot! I hunted for another hour or so and managed another wheat and a nice silver ring.

Total for the hunt was 37 coins (not one nickel) worth $1.57, a full set of keys, and an odd 1/4 oz weight. Not a good dollar total at all but when it includes two silver coins and a ring I'm more than satisfied regardless.

Happy hunting!

I see you had a good hunt yourself. That's a neat looking ring, and nice silver and old wheat too!

3 silvers is a great day out and beats a total clad count any day  That 1916 Wheat looks like it's in real good shape too!! Nice digs ;)
