I had another good weekend, scoring well with silver and a few other old coins. I did not find any silver on Saturday, though I did dig up three old nickels and an Indian Head cent. The nickels are dated 1898, 1913, and 1936. The Indian Head is dated 1898.

I met up with midas early this morning to detect at a town common, the same one we had worked last Sunday. This time I managed to dig up 12 silver coins, two dated in the 1800s. I also found a large cent and a Indian Head cent.
This 1883 Canadian 5 Cent Silver Fishscale was my fourth silver coin during today's hunt, making it my 500th silver coin of the year. At first I thought it was a U.S. half dime sticking out of the mound of soil. This one is just as sweet though.

Not far from where I found the large cent I dug up this beauty - a 1877-S Seated quarter. :happydance01: It was a good 9 1/2 inches deep.

And here is the total silver loot - twelve coins. The mercury dimes are dated 1934-D, 1936, 1937, 1939, and 1943.

The large cent is sticking out slightly from the soil. I haven't been able to make out a date.

I also dug up 22 wheat cents and one Indian Head cent dated 1898.

My Gray Ghost headphones had recently broken on one side while I was out detecting. I didn't have a spare, so out comes the duct tape. The other side then broke off at another recent hunt. :shocked01: I again used duct tape and then ordered a Killer Bees Hornet from midas. I used the new headphones during this weekend's hunts. :thumbsup01:

My headphone broke last week right after I had dug up a corroded copper. I did not have any duct tape at the time so I called it quits, otherwise I would have looked pathetic swinging the coil while trying to hold the ear pad in place. Of course, walking around at a public park with duct tape on the headphone isn't exactly enchanting.

I agree on the chick magnet  Duct tape is hot  Now all you need is some old man's clothes and a spinner hat and no one will bother you ;) As far as the 500 silvers.... what a nice coin to get you there. Great looking Canadian and in nice shape too :clapping: Congrats on that milestone. I bet you never figured you would hit that so soon. And as usual a stellar looking large cent

Congrats on reaching 500, I sure would love to see what you could pull out of parks in Milwaukee, because the finds seem few and far between right now around here. Nice Canadian 5c and seated quarter to boot!

Then I guess the looks I got from the female joggers where not of the "what the....!" type.

 I can just picture myself wearing a spinner hat at the park. As if passersby don't already have reason to think me nutty.
You know, if I had been told at the beginning of the year that I would find 500 silver coins by this time, I would have been doing this

You trashed those Grey Ghosts already? You haven't had them a whole year yet have you ? What, do you sleep with them on too ?
500 silvers ?.....maybe I'll find 500. At this rate I'll only be like 60 years old
Congrats on an outstanding bench mark!!
On your road trip to Milwaukee stop by, I got a few spots that's holding some deep, old silver that I can't seem to find ;)

Yeah, less than a year old! :ticked: The plastic strip holding the earpiece to the headband simply snapped on both sides, making the pads dangle. :bummer: I will have to be more careful with the new ones.
Hey, I wouldn't mind detecting the parks out there, but I keep what I find.

WOW!! 500 Congrats Angel, I thought I was doing great with 48 silver. I was wondering how many hours you put in to find that many silver. Im averaging about one silver and 3 wheats with every 2 hours of hunting. I have about 100 hours in since the middle of March. That is about when the Wisconsin T-hunting season starts.
