Got out this morning for just over an hour and 20min of it was spent digging just two root bound items....but it was worth it!
What is the item that looks like a collar pin? It says E Pluribus Unum and has an eagle on it. It was at my oldest site and was deep, under roots, and was completely blank with crud when I dug it.
I have reason to believe the copper is a William and Mary but I have more work to do in it ...and all the items.
The 2 center is 1864. Thanks!!
Drew , the eagle item is a very interesting and has an older look about it . is there any threading or hole in the "stud " on the reverse ??

Nope Dan, It is just squared off, not rounded. I agree, it's old...and I never saw collar pins from way back :dontknow:
Sorry the pics are all cockeyed and nothing is completely cleaned but I'm hurrying around today.
Thanks Dan!! Oh yeah, and that bottom thing with the slits in the bottom pic was also very deep....but looks newer to me.

Thanks! Nope, that's my T2.
Teknetiks is about to start shipping out their re-release of the Original standard T2 . $499.00 and with that 5 year guarantee that sure could be tempting .

I still swing my original T2 along with my SE. I used the green machine this morning. I've put 1000s of hours on those machines.

Wow, very interesting eagle item. With the logo I might think it had something to do with the mint. I would love to know what it is! That 1864 2 cent is a really fine first year coin too.

Thanks everyone. The eagle piece is a saw medallion.

Nice hunt there Drew. A William and Mary would be a sweet find.

Very nice quality, and variety for just a few hours Drew. So would you guess the saw medallion to be 20th century, or a tad earlier? Just curious.

I can't tell what the maker's mark on the medallion is, but if it's Disston it can be dated pretty precisely as far back as the 1850's. Eagles were popular on the medallions of numerous makers though. If you can get a maker's name I might be able to get some info on it.
If it is Disston, try here: http://disstonianinstitute.com/medv2.html

Thanks guys...thanks for the info Ska, the only other one I ever found was a disston. I'll read up.
John, I have a hunch it is older than that...but I'm guessing. I'm just going on what the thing looked like, and the conditions (depth, site etc) where I dug it. Maybe the pic of the saw gives hints too. ?
