Kind of a shocker since my 1'st gold ring came just 2 months ago!
I'm slowly getting back to doing some detecting, and hit a park here in CT to shoot some video of my gear this past Thursday.
The place has a beach so I wanted to hit it afterwards, but it was too nice out and there were a bunch of people using it, so I passed.
Instead, I started swinging on what looked like a popular field. Popping up the usual park stuff, clad, pull tabs, and slaw for maybe 15 minutes until I got a solid 13VDI on my V3i. Up comes a somewhat squashed ring. I gave it the stink eye right away, it's kind of light, no visible markings, and it looked cheap. Put it in my pocket and moved along. Swung for another hour or so and called it quits when my pouch was full (of junk). A 56 Wheatie was the only other find worth mentioning.
Got home and gave the ring a scrubbing with a toothbrush and toothpaste, and hey, there's a maker's mark on it. It's tiny and I can't make it out with a 7X loop. There's a couple breaks in the metal, and no signs of plating, so I believe it's a 10k ring as it doesn't seem to have the same luster my 14k does.
