I went up to my local school a couple of weeks ago to detect in the evening. Told my wife I would be gone for 1 hour. The school was constructed in 1959. I have found quite a few wheat cents and about a dozen silver coins. The oldest coin was a 1942 Merc. Went to an area that I hunted time and time again. I have an CTX3030, but I was using my Etrac, Old Faithful. I was running TTF with the 15" Coiltek WOT. Got a good conductive signal and pulled up a 1964 Rosie. Fifteen minutes later about 20 feet away I got a 9-45 signal about 6" deep. Dug the target and came up with this 1876 seated dime! Who would have thunk? The old timers here tell me that before the school was constructed that whole area was just woods. You never know!

Congrats on the Seated Dime, John! :clapping:

Is that your second one ever?

It just goes to show you that you never know what may be in the ground, even at a newer site.

:congrats:

Great find. My Dad once found a large cent in a Park built in the 40's and I founf a super nice 1865 Indian last year at a school built in the 20's. Your right you just never know. Nice coin. WD

Congrats on finding a seated coin. It's been awhile since I found one! Just like Wisconsin Digger's dad, I found a 1851 large cent at a park built in 1925. Probably something there before the park but you never know. HH, Dave.
