Got out hunting with my buddy Kevin this weekend and found some good finds http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif . Yesterday we hunted one of my favorite school fields and it had more to give up http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/hello2.gif . I had a sweet +83 at 4 inches right at the corner of the soccer field , silver ring http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/headbang.gif . The other good finds were four wheats , a cool old LUCK token and a junk ring . Total clad for that hunt was $11.29 .
This morning we hunted a school build around 1950 but the area around it dates to the 1800's . This school had a tiny field but man was it loaded with clad , $14.54 ! Now for the good finds http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif . First was a nice little 925 silver bracelet http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif . The good find I didn't even know till I got home and cleaned . It is a tiny sterling silver piano pendent http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif . The next find is my favorite of the weekend ! I know most of you out there in metal detecting land find these all the time but this is my first one in all most THREE YEARS http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing7.gif . I had a +58 VDI at 4 inches , I was thinking another zinc cent till I pulled it out and saw the ONE CENT on the back with a wreath on both sides ! Indian head penny !!! It's nothing special date wise , 1896 . It also is the first 1800's coin of 2015 for me http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/headbang.gif.

Nice set of finds and congrats on your first IH. Man those school grounds were loaded! I once hit a similar small lot with just a b-ball court and an adjacent grass area that literally was only about 20' X 60' and pulled about $15 in clad. Amazing how coins can pile up in some areas.

Nice job on the silver Glen. I can't imagine finding an IH on a school ground. I'd be going back to that site.

Knowing the type of areas that you prefer to hunt that IH must have been a BIG surprise. :congrats:on all your keepers.

IH aren't pulled as often as you think. Altho I am surprised you thought it would be a zincoln. Zincolns always read lower than any solid copper for me. It's just difficult to tell the memorials from wheats from IH from the top to the old soda cans. That piano pendant is nice. Obvi from a music/arts aficianado, but would it be from the student or the teachers? Hmmm.. There have been a few of those good luck tokens recently. I contest I was the first this year to pull one. Maybe a small 'victory' with that.

On my Whites MXT PRO a +58 is almost always a nasty zinc penny . So when I had a +58 I thought zinc . My other Indians I have found over the years have always came up as a +55 to +68 , just like a zinc .
