1800's British silver, IH, some relics

Finally something to post. Until this weekend I had been out 4 or 5 times and had only managed one lone wheatie to show for it! Ugh. Well I finally got my first silver coin yesterday, and it wasn't anything I would have expected. It was covered in dirt and so I didn't rub it, but a bit of that shield showing through on the back had me convinced I had my second Spanish silver! Well it turned out to be an 1890 British Queen Victoria Shilling (my first, of course). I got an Indian Head right after that, so hopefully my 2015 coin slump is over. That shoe buckle was in two pieces unfortunately.

That's quite a hunt there! I'd say your slump is over :thumbsup01: You found three ox knobs and a horse hame in one hunt!? I bet that's a record! :clapping:Nice complete buckle and silver!

Thanks, OSD. To clarify, these are my notable finds for the year so far....I didn't get everything in one hunt. I was finding some relics here and there but no coins and finally decided to post once I came out of my coin slump. Thanks for putting a name to that other thing I found....I had figured it was just a longer version of an ox knob.

Very nice finds and quite the variety. How ironic, another post with a horse hame in it. Congrats on coming out of your slump!

Sweet looking group of finds. Real shame about that buckle but it still looks nice. That is an odd silver to be digging over here but silver is silver.

Very cool shoe buckle! Even though it's broke atleast you have all the pieces! :) love the buttons too, the floral one is neat as is the large textured one! Good luck and HH!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'd rather find a old, foreign silver, than a U.S. coin of the same age.
To me, it's a more unique find. You'll find more Barbers, Mercs, and even seateds. But you'll probably never find another British Queen Victoria Shilling.
Great find!
Congrats!
