Chinese Cash Coin

I hit a corn field this morning for a few hours and took home three wheats 33,41,5? and a Chinese cash coin

The cash coin is smaller than normal

...but seems to be a Shan-Lung 1795-99 (as best as I can tell). The ground is fine until about 5in, then it is still frozen

That's a really cool find, Drew! You're right, that one is unusually small. Most I've seen are about the size of a quarter.

Is there a website that helps to identify how old they are? I found two of them back in the 1980s but I've never made an attempt to date them.
 
Nice hit on the Chinese coin Drew. I have one. Actually it was the first "copper" I ever found :grin: I'll have to look it up tonight to see if I can beat your date. Hey maybe we should have an AD contest to see who has the oldest Chinese coin ?
 
Trying to think. Didn't you find a few coins last hunting season where it's suspected they were brought over with early immigrants? Nice find tho. I got out this weekend but didn't have too much to show for it.
