I went out solo this morning and hunted one house in my favorite door knocking town.
Just a few minutes into the hunt, I dug a Crossing guard Service Award Medal. Pretty cool find. Shortly after that, I finally got me some silver, a 1924 Mercury Dime. Then about 10 feet away, I got another one. a 1943 Merc.
The next three finds were a Shell Oil presidential token, a small play money coin and a button.
After that, I dug a 1907 Indian. I also dug 7 wheat Cents.

Later in the afternoon, about 4:30, I met up with Zrickkid. We hunted one property for about an hour and a half.
I dug a very deep 12-47 and pulled out a very worn 1934 Washington Quarter. I also dug 2 more Wheats, a bell & an ornate drawer pull.

Nice! Definitely love the crossing guard medal. Any idea on its age?

Wow. Never heard of that Shell game... It does have a copyright date of 1968 tho. What the heck happened to the rim, tho? Nice little bit of silver. Wow that quarter is worn. And... obvi it shows the 1924 merc isn't much of a key date. I didn't see many and questioned when Tony got one.. but if two come about in the same month on a smaller forum.

I'd say you got yourself some silver. Nice hunting and that school safety award is a killer, very cool. Don't those Shell coins get your heart going, every time I get one in the hole I'm thinking 1/2 dollar.....

Exactly what I thought until I picked it up and felt how light it was.

Don't you just love the way those shell tokens ring up 12-47 and even look like a silver quarter when you first dig them up! LOL. Glad to see you on the board with some silver coins. HH, Dave.

Congrats on the finds, Don! I love Washington Quarters from the 1930s.

I found that exact same School Safety Patrol badge in a school yard a few years ago, but mine didn't have the "2 years" hangy-down thing.

:congrats:

Great hunt again. I've been throwing all my relic items in a container. I think it's time to pull them out and get then organized. Coins are great but some of the relics we find are really pretty neat. the safety Badge is a keeper. WD
