This might be no big deal to you park hunters but I just don't find Liberty nickels. I bet it's been 5 years since I last dug one and this is by far the nicest. I found a sunny hillside near a not to old cellar hole that had some bare patches of ground. I managed the V nickel a couple of buttons and what turned out to be an Indian Head Penny that someone tried to square off with a hammer.

The "hammered" penny:

Very cool find, V nickles are always a big deal here. Feels great when you realize that you've dug one. :congrats:

That is a really nice looking V Nickel! They are a thrill to find in my book, as there's always a chance for a rare date like 1885, 1886 or 1912-S.

Maybe you should hit that site some more when the rest of the snow melts!

:congrats:

Nice find, and in great shape too. Excitement is growing in the northeast after a long winter. Snow will be gone and ground thawed in most spots before you know it.

We call them Vs Barber nickels because they were designed by the same gent who designer the silver BARBER COINS.

Yes two rare things that we woods detectorists rarely find Jeff the "scarce" v-nickle and the elusive "American Hammie" , well you can safely check both of those off your bucket list ;)

Congrats on that very nice looking V nickel! I just found my first Buffalo a few weeks ago and another today. Hoping a nice V nickel like yours is not far off!
