Thursday I had done some special recon and found a new site to hunt. Friday I took Dave with me to see what we could pull out. This was an old site and seemed like every other target that came out of the ground was a Dandy Cloak Button. One of the cloakers has an odd design that looks like an arrow pointing into something. It has me scratching my head:dontknow:
I did find two coins and both where very worn. The 1700's Carolus half Reale had seen some heavy circulation and the King George III was almost completely worn. Dave did well also and it turned out to be a good hunt.
WOW , look at you ... already making us drool for the new year ! some sweet dandy buttons Todd , congrats on the silver and cooper too!

Well now that's a nice way to start the new year. Ground is freezing so fast the woods are the place to be.
Todd the design looks like its stained into the surface instead of "hand tooled" or machine stamped or cut into the button . is there an actual impression where the marks are?

I love the large dandies! I'd rather find one then a wiped copper any day. I'm with Dan in I thought that dark circle/arrowy thing looked like a stain. A great start to the year Todd!

Thanks everyone. Sites are getting harder and harder to find now so I doubt 2015 will be as kind to us as was 2014.

Idk.. the stain looks like from two different pieces. One semi circle from like a pipe end and the other is like a nail being jagged from corrosion. I think iron would cause that black color stain. Nice amount of buttons there Todd. From Dave's write up I guess you seemed to work a bit harder the second time around.
