December 28th - My Final Hunt for 2014.

I met up with Zrickid this morning to do a little hunting. The first place we tried was a very large field that they scraped several inches of soil off the top. when we first got there, it wasn't bad, the surface was frozen. but as soon as the sun came out we were in a muddy soup. Time to Go!!!! Just clad.

The second spot was a property that Ricky had permission for. A building from the 20s with a massive amount of property.
There was virtually no junk, just threshold until we hit a target. I managed a 1923 Buffalo Nickel and a 1943-P War nickel.
The war nickel was about 7 inches and rang up at 12-12. As I was digging, I was hoping for a Buff. I was kinda surprised to see a war nickel ring up that low. I ended up with 5 wheats as well. I hope Ricky invites me back to that site again ( Hint Hint ) it was a great place to hunt.
A couple of the relics came from Friday's Hunt.

The signal for war nickels can vary widely. Sometimes they ring up low, sometimes high.

Nice hunt to end the year a little silver and a few old coins. My last hunt was mostly clad but it was great to hunt almost through the end of the year. Great year yoy and your son had. WD
