Metal Detecting Roman finds in the Balkans

Sheri and I just returned from a vacation in the Balkans and we had a very short opportunity to MD the fields just below a Roman township located on a low rise in the plain. Our friend told us that whenever they found broken terracotta, that was the place to look for coins and artifacts. This was my first opportunity to MD and it was awesome. Less than an hour and I found two Roman coins.

I now truly understand how this can be an addictive hobby!

Yes, this hobby is very addictive. :congrats:on getting the two roman coins. We here in the States get all excited over finding some 1700's relics but the boys across the pond can find the really old stuff.

Ave! That's my real problem as a Roman coin seller - if it ain't at least 1,400 years old, it seems a bit new. :-)

Fantastic finds! What alloy/metal did they typically use in Roman times? Copper? Any idea of the emperor or mintmaster on the coins?
