I took a vacation day on Monday and headed back up to Wisconsin to hunt with Firefighter43, Jeff. I brought Ted along. We met at Jeff's newly acquired permission, camp site. We met up a little after 8 a.m. and was swinging and digging in no time.:detecting: Before 9 o'clock I got my first silver of the day!! A 53 Rosie. I didn't manage 47 wheat cents again. I did get 19 more though. A total of 6 silvers. I didn't get a silver half this day, but I did get a silver bigger than a dime...
The first glimpse of a, late day, no date SLQ!!:yahoo:

I even found a piece of gold!!:happydance01: Well actually I found a gold ring in pieces. I dug a deep wheat signal and I stood up and rechecked the hole. When I did I got a solid 12-12 that didn't change. (Not once) But it showed it not as deep. I figured for sure it was going to be a old nickle lost with the wheatie. Boy was I surprised to see a gold ring come out of the ground! :shocked04: It was broken but still intact. As I was cleaning the dirt out of it it started to break apart in my hands.:crying02:

It's stamped RSCo 10K.

Turns out it's a Ross-Simons vintage cameo ring. Circa 1940's-50's. I pieced it all together after cleaning and snapped a picture.

Here's my handful of keepers at the end of the day! 6 silvers, a 1911 V nickle, a 1898 IH, and the broken 10K gold ring.

Here's Ted's take for the day. 7 silvers! 1 being a WLH!!!

That must have been a really fun day, Tim! You got a nice variety of old coins including the elusive SLQ! :thumbsup02:

I also see that one of your Mercs is a 1916. I'm sure you already checked it for a mint mark. :thumbsup01:

That gold ring looks really nice after you pieced it back together! A couple drops of super glue and it will be good as new! Awesome find!

Congrats on the fantastic day that you had! :perfect10:

Congrats again Tim on some great finds. That ring really looks good all together. The funny thing is my dad has the exact same ring, very cool. Gold and silver with a variety of old coins, it doesn't get much better than that. Also, as always it was a pleasure hunting with you and Ted.

Tim those silvers are great and the gold is even better IMO! :) Pays to dig those low tones once in a while doesn't it? ;) Nice job putting the gold ring back together again. HH

Nicely done Tim! A bunch of good finds. Too bad you broke the gold ring with your big gorilla hands! :poke:

Of course I'm jealous of the SLQ--the one coin that still eludes me. Now the cold weather is here so it may be a while before I get out again. Bets wishes and HH, Dave.

It don't get a whole lot better than a day like this. And I have you to thank for it all!! Thanks again Jeff! :notworthy: Does 40' or 50's sound about right for the rings age then if your dad has the same one?

Thanks Isaac! It sure does pay to dig the low tones now and then  This year I've probably got around 40 lbs. of aluminum to show for this 3.5 grams of gold!:lol:

You haven't found a SLQ? Wow! But your right, they are very few and far between. They just don't show up too often. It was wierd. I dug the SLQ, backfilled the hole, stood up rechecked the whole, and off to the side I got another quarter signal!! You know what I was thinking right? It has a friend!!!!:yahoo: Yeah... his friend?... a 1965 Washington!! :shocked04: What!!!??? :hairpulling::bangshead01: Go figure....

Tim, that's a great looking fistful of keepers. Old silvers, IH, and of course the gold. That's a very productive site that Jeff found..:envious:.

Hope the bad weather does not hang out in your area. :congrats:on a fantastic hunt.

Very nice variety of coins there Tim.
I especially like the ring. My dad used to wear one exactly like it.
Well Done
