The year's copper count is finally starting to pick up. I found a 300 year old house where I'm allowed to hunt the fields (now woods) across the street. I'm able to get within 100 feet of the old home. These are the only things I dug after 45min. No shotgun shells!! Too close to the road for shells. The coins are an 1846 matron and an 1831 coronet. Lots of 1831s posted lately. HH (happy halloween):devilish:

Now you need some ox shoes to go with that ox knob!

An impressive group of finds after only 45 minutes! No shotgun shells is a definite plus for sure! You're into an old area and there has to be more there.

Love the photo of your Halloween kitty too! :thumbsup02:

:congrats:

Nice drew. Only 15 years difference in dates on coins and the newer is much better shape. Yes, I know other factors involved like when eaxh dropped. They allow the field but not around house to be hunted? No shotgun shells, eh? I thought u said u don't dig items that low? They ring like nickels to me in the 25 range. ':-/

Excellent coppers. :clapping:

I am wondering how you cleaned them up. Was it just soap and water with a toothbrush?

Good work Drew. I expect to see more goodies pulled from that site. Great pic. You have to wonder what is going on in your cat's mind.

Thanks Tony and Tony, I don't need anymore ox shoes thank you very much

Thanks Jim, anything below 40 is iron on my machine. Shot gun shells can be anywhere from 50s (nickel/tombac) up to 70s (button). Mostly high 50s-low 60s. I always dig them at my sites. Once in a while when I go to a more modern site I become more selective after a few pieces of modern trash.
Beartoe, I just water/brushed the 1831 but the 1846 I put in hot peroxide for a minute. Then I picked it with a tooth pick. There is another layer still on but I'm just going to leave it as some detail started to come off. Thanks!

Thank you Jeff and Dan, believe me Jeff, that cat isn't thinking much

WTG Drew, scored a deuce on the LC's and only in 45 minutes. Can't wait to see what the site will produce on your future hunts there.

Nice kitty also.....

Thanks KP and Al, I went back this morning for 2 hrs and only got a tombac and drawer plate. That's how it is with this hobby :bummer:

Still... a tombac at least. No issue with rain? Its been wet all day here and I'm only 30 miles away from u. (And cold). Lol I'm not being whiney, I swear. The last house I was at the guy gave me a tip. I think I should pm it to u. Anyway, if there was a way to upload a video I could show u what I mean by my numbers. Obvi I'm the one swinging it and usually people don't swap machines while out so u don't get the feel for it..but at least u can see how things ring up...if out of the ground. I just sometimes dig the stuff I think is junk but bam, it's good. I'll dig a bit of trash to see what numbers are coming up, what came out of ground, and what is normal range for it. To get a feel for the place/ground mineralization/amount of trash.

Yeah Jim it was raining...I'm not a fan of rain hunts but I wanted to get back to this site. What machine do you use? I forget.
