Hey diggers,
I went back to that 1924 park I had hunted so hard 5 years ago with my ACE 250. Since then I have seen many guys out there metal detecting. I spent 8 hours today swinging very, very slowly. All my finds were in the 8 to 10 inch range. We had 2 days of heavy rains so the soil was very good to me today! I was surprised how many deep wheat cents rang up like anything but a coin. SO many nails mixed in with the coins. It really helped mask them but the e-trac sniffed them out every time! I ended up with 16 wheat cents, 2 mercury dimes, a sterling ring (looks like one of those WWII forget-me-not rings), and a vintage Army Air Corps collar brass. Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

Nice Dave!
Who ever lost the WWII forget-me-not ring was likely broken hearted at the time...

The rain and concentrating and going slow, usually produces some kind of good results. It did not disappoint!! Look at all the coins still left there. Just the wheats alone is shocking. Wonder what is in the 12"+ range.

Good points. I have personally hunted that small area more than 20 times with my ACE 250 (5 years ago) and I found lots of coins even back then. What really surprised me was I found 7 deep Wheaties and the ring (all 10 inches deep) around a bench that is right in front of the bandstand and everyone hunts that spot! They were no more than slight grunts. One merc was with several nails and only barely read as 09-35 from one direction. I seriously thought it was going to be an indian head cent. Thanks for commenting and HH, Dave.

Just one more account of how well the Etrac works. Couple that with the skill of the operator and you get results like this. Great hunting Dave......:congrats:

That's in impressive amount of keepers from a pounded park, Dave! Amazing that you were able to find so many wheat cents, and even a couple of Mercs!

:congrats:

This is a great lesson that patience and knowing your machine can get results even in the well hunted places. Thanks for sharing.
